Hi folks! I'm usually not very good with this blog thing, but I figured this weekend is special enough I'll take a whack at it. It's about 9pm Central Time, and I just got back to my hotel room a little while ago from my daughter's wedding.
It was the most beautiful fall wedding I ever did see. I know most of you may be scratching your heads, or your eyes may be wide with surprise, thinking to yourselves, "Wait -- Rev. Liz has a daughter?! A daughter old enough to get married, even?!" And to this I say, yes, yes I do -- I have known the beautiful woman who got married today since she was 10 years old, and her biological dad and I used to be together. I helped raise her, even after her bio-dad and I went different ways.
One of the most special moments this weekend was when she introduced me as her Second Mom, because she has so many family members that extend beyond the lines that blood creates. And her brother was there as well; it was great to reconnect with him, too. I met lots of different relatives I hadn't before, including my daughter's husband's child, who is the cutest button on the planet.
Yep. I'm a grandma, officially, and I got to meet my granddaughter for the very first time. I plan on being the best Second Mom, Second Mom-in-Law, and Second Grandma that I could possibly be.
My Nana used to tell me that being a Grandma was the best feeling in the world, when I was born. I imagine this feeling I have must be kinda like she was talking about. My heart is too full for words. I never thought I'd actually look forward to returning to Minnesota, but heck, I can't brain fast enough to plan when I'll be back to see my daughter, son (in law), and grandchild.
May their union be blessed, now and always. May they find peace and love in each other's presence, and may every blessing be theirs, now and on and on, into the far future.
Hopefully when I get home tomorrow evening I'll be inspired to write some more, but for now, may you all Blessed Be.
