Day 34:  The Shell (part 1)

Day 34:  The Shell (part 1)

Day 33:  The Shell (part 1)

If it cannot break out of the shell, the chick will die before ever being truly born.

This is the difficult reality. The Egg, created as a way to carry and protect life, as the shell guarded the young. When food and space runs out, the infant must break the shell, from inside, and pull themselves out to live. No one can help truly the awakening chick, for the struggle is part of the process of being born.  So to be truly born or reborn, you must come through your shell.

As a magician, once you began you are but a chick in the egg. Many can be an egg for years, decades, and their entire life. Church of All Worlds has a saying, combined with your inner wrists touching with open hands, “I am but an Egg”. This defines the state of everlasting innocence and a time of gaining knowledge.  So the Egg represents a useful and significant symbolism of our journey.

We are all Eggs in this together, as we learning our way, into the most remarkable age. A becoming golden age of spellcasters and witchcraft. For me, it’s a shell against tapping into my deepest core, the next level of magical practice. So these lessons are part of all our growths together. Your giving me hope to crack through my shell as well.  More in future lessons.

Creating a Shell is a natural creation of culture, and we are constantly seeking to become the next thing. We have these transitions, and we must break through each of them. This happens as a magical practice, from being a mental shell which protects you but limits you. Every initiation represents the opportunity to break through your shelf, to give to an ever higher self.  It can be formal or by epiphany, it can be when the pressure gets so much. There is a moment, when you must break your shell.

Right Now, give yourself up to being an Egg. Something that is nurturing a new life within, one that is simply growing. After all, sometimes “We are but an Egg”.
Exercise: In Your book of Shadows, draw yourself within your egg. As simple or complex as you like.
