"Circles, Cirles, We all move in Circles"  - Unknown

I heard this a long time ago, and within it, was something that began a quest to find the beginning of meaning.  It is what Witches do, for we do not witness time as simply a linear equation from past to future, but in circles of life, death and rebirth. From past lives, to be repeated in the now, and then again in the future. We are born, die and be reborn, for all life comes from life. Whether it is the cycles of the earth around the sun, the sun around our galactic core, or the moon circling of the earth, we discover over and over again the idea of a circle. Witches understand that circles offer a understanding of how life works.

Albert Einstein laid out the Law of Conservation of Energy, which states that energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system. This is the perfect representation of a circle. While energy can be added or removed from a system, to outside or larger systems, it is mere transformation. So when we create energy in a Circle, we can transform it, into another form, and all energy remains available. It simple finds a way to act, to provide change. This is what we know and what as Witches we live in.

So if a circle can contain energy, then it allows us to work with it, and as long as it’s contained in a circle, we can use it over the long term. This is how life exists on earth, within Gaia, by being contained within the circle of our atmosphere, to be born, die, and born again. So we see naturally this system. While Gaia is not a perfectly closed system, as it absorbs energy from the sun, that only represents a larger circle. So we strive to understand and when spells ask for energy, we will understand we transform our spiritual and mental energies into another form, dedicated by will, and that is perfectly natural.

So one model I love is a Mobius strip, which is an infinite one-sided object. It simply a circle, where it was cut in half, put a half twist into it, and reattach it. You magic can work this way. Never ending and completely circular.

Today, I am offering a spell and assignment, I want you to take a strip of paper, long and thin, and lay it flat. Write out something you desire, want or need. It can be a physical, emotional, protection, etc. Flip it over and write “I will create” and place your energy in it.  Then take the strip of paper, half twist it, and attach the two ends together, Gluing it is probably best. This is now a Circle called a Mobius Strip, and now read it. You will see it has become a closed circle that never ends. Every time you read it you add energy. This become an energetic matter that repeats over and over again.

If you want to create a charm or invested magical spell, use this strip. Write down you intention, and for this I love an incantation. Once you have written it down, half-twist strip and attach the end. Now read the incantation, as often as you like. The more you add energy, the more meaningful it can become. Then when you have the need for that Mobius strips energy, you can tear it or even burn it, to release the energy.  This transform the mental/mystical energy and use it to power your will. It’s something easy to do that can have a huge impact.
